Ooh, it’s been a while since the last instalment of My Life in Stationery! This month features the gorgeous Sarah of Sarah Wayte Photography, who is a storytelling people photographer with an emphasis on capturing the heart and soul of her subjects. She has fabulous purple hair so she’ll fit right in…
First things first, what’s your name?
Sarah
What’s the best thing you’ve ever received in the post?
Anything that’s not a bill! I absolutely adore post – even if it’s something I’ve ordered as a gift for a friend. I’m always excited to open cards and parcels 🙂
What’s your current favourite stationery item?
It has to be my bullet journal! Carla got me started on bullet journaling around 18 months ago and I have not looked back. It’s been a revelation and changed my life. I’ve almost finished filling my first journal now and I love how chunky it feels. I can’t wait to start my next one!
Are you a diary writer? Tell us about your journal habits if you are (and don’t worry if you’re not!)
I have journaled since I was a teenager. Back then it literally was “Dear Diary, today I did this…”. As I got older, I moved to LiveJournal and used that for around 8 years before I started my business. Nowadays I mostly blog when I get a chance which is a sort of journal and I make regular resolutions to myself to personally journal more frequently but, in actual fact, I usually only manage to do it once a month. I really do want to make it more regular though.
I recently started reading ‘Let It Out: A Journey Through Journaling’ by Katie Dalebout which is a great book all about using journaling to focus yourself, make changes and transform your life. It has loads of little journaling exercises you can do… now I just need to find some time to do them!
And are you a list maker?
See above!! Have BuJo – will list! I actually wasn’t much of a list maker before the bullet journal – I made mental lists mostly, which is probably why I used to forget so much stuff. Now I have a variety of lists on the go, but mostly the bullet journal as once it goes in there, I am happy that I don’t have to remember, the bujo does it for me!
Favourite ink colour?
Black! 17 years of working in the ambulance service has ingrained that one into me.
Your favourite place to write?
In my office. I love my office space (although it needs a good spring clean) and it’s where I feel most creative.
Last thing you posted?
A dress I sold on Vinted. But you’ve just reminded me I need to send out a card to my Mum!
