Make a bank holiday plan

May has three – yes three! – bank holidays this year. For some a shorter working week is very appealing but it can also be disruptive as you try to squeeze the work of five days into four. We’re planning carefully. That way we can spend time with our families but still get subscriptions and other stationery orders packed and posted. It’s also prompted some interesting discussion about how to make the four-day week work.

Add desk tidying to your schedule

Sunday resets are having a moment and being ready to go for the week ahead is rather nice. My current planner starts the week on a Sunday so I feel right on trend. Resetting your desk on a day that works for you and if you’re struggling to keep it clear then consider what the issue is; a lack of storage or a preference to work elsewhere.

Have a weekly notebook clear out

Ideally, all the thoughts that you just have to write down would be in one notebook. Let’s be realistic. They’re in multiple planners, journals and jotters along with a side helping of receipts, phone apps and sticky notes. If you’re like me you keep them all to go through at some unspecified later date and then end up with a shoe box of random scribbles. Start going through them every week. Bin the ones that you no longer need and transfer the ones you do to a place of action.
